West Troy Pottery. West Troy, New York. Around 1863, until 1899. The following stoneware potters worked at West Troy Pottery at different times: George Seymour from 1863 to 1867. In 1867, A. J. and J. L. Russell bought the West Troy Pottery George Seymour. They operated until 1879 when the pottery was sold to Daniel Shepley who first appeared in the list of Directory West Troy in 1879 in Schenectady Street 14-16. From 1880 to 1883 he was a partner, Robert Fleming and became Shepley & Fleming. Later in 1884 until 1896, the name was Shepley & Smiths. There were two Smiths, Lewis W. and Frank B. who were in business with Shepley. In 1897, the pottery became Lewis W. Luther Smith and Lysander, and called Smith & Luther. In 1897, Shepley resigned to run a saloon in the 1285 Broadway St. All these potters used the label "West Troy Pottery," but some also used their own names as it did Shepley & Smith. In 1898, John L. Russell took over the company again, and then closed in 1899.
