Collins, 1877) _______________________________________________________________________________________ I knew his son, Isaac Thomas, proprietor of a pottery just below Maysville,--—a fine business man, a model citizen, a good neighbor and the father of a fine family. I have slept in his house, eaten at his table, knew his sons and daughters and learned my a, b, c's with his grandchildren in the same little brick school house on Jersey Ridge. As a boy bricklayer, I have helped his son-in-law, Joseph Mendel, repair and put new bottoms in their pottery kilns. Thomas & Mendell advertised that "two or three potters can have constant employment and the best wages" by calling. An interesting fact in this connection is the Zanesville, O., Republican is asked to copy the advertisement.
