MY CLAY ALE.

TO THE PUBLIC.-I would respectfully state that I have a fine large stock of Ale and Porter on hand, made as pure as man can make it.  The same has been made under my own supervision, by the help of my two sons William and Theodore.  We have now bottled, my superior Clay Ale, which cannot be beat; my fine Porter; Cream Beer; Brown Stout; Know-Nothing or Shanghai Ale (I can assure the K-N.'s it is the pure American,) made out of American barley, yes, Kentucky barley, American water, and brewed by my son, a Louisville boy
I think, with all my recommendations, after a fair trial, that I certainly must set the custom from the German Bottlers, for I am down on them, because they bring their ale from Germany or some foreign city, and I brew mine here among you.                                       JO. METCALF
