FIRES.

A fire broke out a few minutes before six o'clock last evening, in the two story brick building on Eastern avenue, between Central avenue and Eden street, occupied by Mr. Joseph Merritt, as a camphene and etherial (sic) oil manufactory. ......
The fire next attacked the three story brick building, adjoining on the East, occupied by Carson Gutty, as a cake and confectionary store. ........
The brick building adjoining, on Eastern avenue, one door from Eden street, occupied by William Coughlan as a bottling establishment, also took fire and was entirely burnt out.  Insurance not ascertained.
The large brick building on the corner of Eastern avenue and Eden streets, was on fire several times but the flames were extinguished without causing much damage.  The fire is supposed to have originated from accident.
