Bottled In Illinois - Kenneth B. Farnsworth & John A. Walthall 2011 - This work creates a baseline historical archaeology reference to help date and interpret 1840—1880 embossed glass containers made for Illinois merchants. It describes and illustrates nearly 1,100 different Illinois bottles from close to 500 merchants operating in over 100 towns and cities across the state. It provides detailed information on bottle styles, lettering, and contents, in addition to the histories of Illinois merchants who used these glass and stoneware containers.
